If there isn’t currently a group in your local area, please start one! It can be as simple as meeting up with a few people in your area and doesn’t have to a traditional ‘formal’ group with meetings and minutes. Existing local groups will be happy to help you. If you have a group that we don’t know about, then get in touch at swiftsofsheffield6@gmail.com
If you believe an existing nest site is under threat (at any time of year), please email us ASAP.
Our contact details can be found here.
If you have found a grounded swift, please contact Sheffield Swift Rescue immediately.
Please do not leave them. This includes young swifts that are at risk of falling from nests during hot temperatures. The parent birds will not feed them on the ground. Swifts will not be able to get airborne from the ground, and will die. They need specialist care so please do not delay and make immediate contact.

These incredible birds spend 9 months on the wing and many make Walkley and Crookes their home for four months of the year to nest and raise their young. They’re having a hard time as more and more of their nesting sites are lost. This group is for anyone who wants to share appreciation, sightings and information about our Swifts. Report a Swift in trouble, encourage people to put up nest boxes and welcome Swifts into their roof spaces. “
